One of a Kind Glass

Visit What's New to see what I'm up to at the moment.

I am always busy creating many new items. You may reach me by calling the numbers found on my Contact Page or by visiting me at my studio in Chateaugay.

Make sure to see my Drop Spindles.

Each is individually made either in glass or ceramics and usable for spinning Wool.

Select from many different shapes of white glass designs for special Springtime gifts and for your own decorating needs. They are wonderful to hang in windows and especially in trees.

Welcome to Julia's Art Glass Online Studio

I am both an artist and a teacher of glass art. I create custom and unique stained glass designs using rural upstate New York themes and subject matter. I often work on commission creating anything from lamps to panels for private sale, businesses, and schools. I consider each commission a creative challenge.

I am always experimenting and discovering different shapes for glassware using different glass textures. One of my experiments is to use recycled glass, such as wine bottles, to create unique glass art pieces, such as bowls, vases, and candle holders. These pieces have become very popular sale items.

I enjoy teaching anyone who wants to learn the art of stained glass. My students decide what they want to create, and I then show them how to create a unique work of art.

I am presently interested in helping students create intuitive mosaics full of color and creative expression. I offer a wide variety of services including custom pattern design and specialized workshops and instruction geared toward making the student proficient in the stained glass craft.

Many have asked me about what process I use in creating an art piece. There is no standard pattern for the design process. I begin with a mental image or an idea, and then I develop the piece from there. In designing a snowflake, for example, I select a number of bevels, then lay them out in a variety of different configurations and designs until I achieve the look I want.

AHMC's Rhythm of Life Art Auction

I donated a glass art piece entitled Venetian Bowl to the Alice Hyde Medical Center's successful Art Auction that took place Friday, October 2, 2009, at the Malone Golf Course.

This piece of art glass is crafted in the distinctive style of the Renaissance glass and mosaic ware. Layers of glass are placed in a design that is built up on a molded form and then carefully fused over and over until a final spectacular effect is achieved.

The cool blues and geometric white shapes remind one of Italian lagoons and canals. Its basic curved form not only creates a striking pattern, but also provides for its functionality as a bowl for use in any household. Its beautiful design and color will add to any décor.
